Sustainability
At Naluka, we consider our environmental impact in everything we do. In a world of over consumption we strive to produce less, but produce better. This means we focus on creating high-quality products that are built to last, reducing the need for frequent replacements and minimizing our environmental impact.
LIMITED PRODUCTION RUNS
We believe in mindful manufacturing, creating only what’s necessary, and ensuring every piece we make is crafted with care and intention. Therefore, at Naluka we only produce limited production runs to ensure every product we make finds a home.
YAMAMOTO LIMESTONE ECOPRENE
All of our wetsuits are made out of Yamamoto Limestone Ecoprene, a premium alternative to conventional neoprene. Made from limestone rather than petrochemicals, this innovative material significantly reduces environmental impact by relying on a more sustainable resource.
Why is Yamamoto Limestone Ecoprene better for the environment? Unlike traditional neoprene, which is derived from non-renewable oil-based products, limestone-based ecoprene requires fewer resources to extract and process. This results in a lower carbon footprint and a cleaner, more responsible manufacturing process. In addition, it is more durable, meaning your wetsuit will last longer, further reducing waste and the need for replacements.
Yamamoto Limestone Ecoprene is renowned for its incredible flexibility, providing unmatched freedom of movement in the water. Its superior stretch ensures a snug, comfortable fit, making it ideal for high-performance sports. The material is also luxuriously soft and lightweight, offering the perfect balance of warmth and comfort without feeling restricted.
EXTENDING PRODUCT LIFECYCLE
At Naluka we aim to extend the lifespan of each of our products as much as possible. We strive to provide you with the best advice when it comes to the care of your product and we also want to help you extend the lifespan of your product as much as we can.
Therefore, we have set up a REPAIRS (link this) service for you. Even when your suit is out of warranty, you can contact us and we can organize to get it fixed for you.
END OF PRODUCT LIFE
Once you have had some fun times with your wetsuit and are ready to move on from it for one reason or another, we kindly ask you to consider the end of your product’s life.
Your best options for moving on your product are:
- Give it another life – re-sell or donate your suit if it’s still in applicable condition. The longer a product get’s used, the better for the environemnt
- Recycle it - In Australia, the best option you can find when it comes to wetsuit recycling is Rip Curland TerraCycle‘s joint free wetsuit recycling program. You can drop off or mail your used wetsuit to Ripcurl and they will turn it into a new product such as foam matts for gyms etc. And YES they take wetsuits from any brands!
