Our Story
Welcome to Naluka
Naluka started as an idea in my head long before I was able to make it a reality.
Having moved to Australia in 2019, I struggled to find women’s wetsuits I loved.
I often purchased spring suits that I thought looked good but didn’t live up to my expectations from a performance point of view – moving where they were not supposed to once in the water or rubbing in the wrong places. As a fashion designer, I thought there was room for improvement here, not only from a performance POV but also from a design POV, where as a customer I often didn’t feel spoken to. Conventional surf brands didn’t embody my beliefs, concern for our planet or sense of aesthetic.
Naluka was born to be different. Inspired by the design lines of a traditional corset, Naluka wetsuits have been conceived to accentuate feminine form and flatter their wearer’s natural shape.
The product was developed to perform, perfecting fit on different body shapes and using rubber lining so the suits will stay where they are meant to when in the water.
The Japanese Yamamoto limestone ecoprene they are made of is a more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional neoprene as it uses calcium carbonate derived from limestone in it’s inception process rather than petroleum based ingredients used for the creation of conventional neoprene.
Naluka is the culmination of a life long dream to start a brand where the environment is central to every choice I make; where aesthetic, beauty, utility and conscious manufacturing intersect and neither has to give way for the other.
I hope you will enjoy what I have dreamt up for you.
