There's a particular kind of magic that happens when you put a woman who actually surfs in front of a camera at the beach. No forced poses. No awkward feet-in-sand stock photo energy. Just someone completely at home in the water, wearing pieces made for exactly that.
That's what we captured in this women's surf photoshoot with Alex Roman, shot at Tamarama on a classic Sydney morning — glassy, golden, and completely worth the early alarm.
What She's Wearing
Alex is wearing the wetsuit top & surfing shorts from Naluka's current collection — our sustainable set made for women who actually use it in the water.

The Naluka sleeveless neoprene top was designed with movement in mind. Whether you're paddling out, duck diving, or just lying on your board waiting for a set, it stays exactly where it should. No readjusting. No second-guessing. Just focus on the wave.
The surfing shorts pairs with pretty much everything in the range — we designed it that way intentionally, so you can mix, layer, and wear it from the water straight to a coffee without thinking twice.
Why We Shoot This Way
A lot of wetsuit campaigns are shot in controlled studio environments or pristine infinity pools. We've never been interested in that.
Naluka was built around the reality of women's surfing in Australia — early mornings, salt in your hair, sand in places you'd rather not mention, and the very specific joy of catching a wave when you weren't expecting it. Our women's surf photoshoots reflect that. Real locations, real light, real surfers.
When you're designing a sustainable surfing wetsuits for Australian women, you have to test it in actual Australian conditions. Tamarama beach gave us everything — sun, movement, and water that doesn't forgive a poorly constructed seam.
On Sustainability
Every Naluka piece is made with materials and processes we can stand behind. We think about what a garment is made from, where it comes from, and how long it will last — because the ocean deserves better than fast fashion, and so do you.
A wetsuit that holds its shape, its colour, and its construction after a full summer of use isn't just better for the planet. It's better value, and it looks better in photos like these.
